Dodson & Horrell Polo Championships

We were blessed  by the weather doing the right thing at the right time with enough rain to soften the previously hard ground in the week before the tournament and dry weather on the weekend.

It was a fantastic weekend with  8 teams entering overall, 4 in each section.  Stewarton put out some of their inexperienced players for a first run out in the tournament and these players acquitted themselves very well.  Although the teams did not come home with any spoils, the upper sector team put on a strong performance to beat an experienced Errol side on Sunday

Burnfoot won the upper section ably captained by former high goal player, Alasdair Archibald playing alongside his young guns.  The lower section was won by a tried and tested Kinross side who benefitted from years experience playing together.

It was a fantastic weekend and one we are looking forward to repeating next year

Edinburgh Tournament

It was close but no cigar at the Edinburgh tournament at the weekend. After six long years the team pulled off a surprise win against Dundee and Perth on Saturday to send them to the final.

Awaiting them in the final was a very good Edinburgh side so it was always going to be a tough match. The first chukka the Edinburgh team got off to a flyer helped along by some penalties. The rest of the match was equally hard fought with the Edinburgh team putting in an excellent performance to win.

Not a bad first outing. Lessons have been learned and now the team is eagerly looking forward to the Border Reivers tournament in June.

Winter Season

The nights are drawing in and there is a distinct chill in the air which means a sad goodbye to Summer.  Thankfully, the Polo does not stop there.  We have a full Winter programme, not only with Polo but a few club nights out for good measure.

On Sundays we will be heading to the pub for a late lunch after chukkas.  Friends and family are welcome to join in.  The club has a break over Christmas and then in February the Frostbite League starts.

New players are welcome to join us and for those who have never tried Polo before we have lessons available too so why not kick out the Winter blues and join us?
